"The One Skill" Book's Review Part 2

     Hello, today I would like to continue my previous post, the review of The One Skill Book. Happy reading :)

Chapter 6: Dealing with Habits
     Building new habits is actually quite simple, we make the desired habits then repeat until finally the habits become automatic every day. However, there are many obstacles that can disturb us to make these new habits. This chapter tell us what are the obstacles and how to overcome them.

Chapter 7: Dealing with Possessions
     Often we buy, store and collect items that are actually not very useful or no longer use them. We buy and store it because it has its own memories for us. As a result, the items in our house piled up and the house fell apart. In this chapter, the author shares his experience in releasing possessions that have memories for him.

Chapter 8: Dealing with Resistance from Others
     We must often ask others to change to suit our desires but then they reject it. Why is that? That is because we cannot force others to change. Everyone has the right to determine their own lives. this chapter tell us that we must let go of our desire to control people. Instead of wanting to change others, it is better to focus on ourselves so we can be useful for others.

Chapter 9: Dealing with Change
     This chapter tell us that everything in this world is nothing eternal, both living things and inanimate objects. All things will surely experience changes including ourselves. To overcome this change, the author invites us to use letting go skills by accepting change and confronting reality rather than fighting it and making us suffer. By accepting change, we can change ourselves better than before.

Chapter 10: Dealing with Loss
     When we lose someone or something that is very important to us, of course we will feel sad, angry or confused. It is not wrong if we feel that way, but rather than dissolve in suffering, it is better to let go of our past and accept the reality we face today. This chapter invites us to give up what has happened and appreciate what we still have today.

  1. The book you've been reviewing is quite interesting. There are so many words that motivate me. I do really agree with this "everything in this world is nothing eternal" part. Cannot wait to see the next chapter!

  2. I really agree with chapter 6 "there are many obstacles that can disturb us to make these new habits." I often do that when I went to make good habit, It's only running early my desire:(
